Miltonduff 9 Year

Miltonduff 9 Year

Miltonduff Distillery was built in 1824, near Elgin in Speyside. However, like many distilleries of the time, it is believed that whisky was being produced illicitly on the site before legalization. The distillery was built on the grounds of an old Benedictine monastery, the Pluscarden Abbey, which had a history of brewing and distillation.  In 1936 Miltonduff was purchased by Hiram Walker & Sons, a Canadian company that also owned Ballantine’s.

This secured Miltonduff’s place as a key component in Ballantine’s blended whisky.  The distillery does not frequently release official bottlings, though independent bottlers such as Signatory Vintage offer limited editions, which highlight its elegant and well-balanced Speyside profile.
