Glentauchers 12 Year
Glentauchers was founded in 1897 by James Buchanan and W.P. Lowrie, two influential figures in the Scotch whisky trade. Buchanan, known for creating Buchanan’s and Black & White blends, built Glentauchers to ensure a steady supply of high-quality malt whisky for his brands. Glentauchers was mothballed in 1985 due to low demand for whisky and over-supply aka ‘The Whisky Loch.’ Glentauchers with its long ferments and slow distillation produces a make on the lighter side of the flavor spectrum. While it does not have many official single malt releases, independent bottlers like Signatory Vintage and Gordon & MacPhail have occasional releases.
