Caol Ila, (pronounced ‘cull-eela’) is the Gaelic name for the Sound of Islay, in reference to the distillery’s location overlooking the strait between Islay and Jura. Built in 1846, Caol Ila is the largest of the eight working distilleries on the island of Islay.
TASTE NOTES

NOSE: Gentle on the nose with a hint of minerals, well balanced
TASTE: Has an immediate sweetness on the palette, but then the ride begins, you take off on a flavor roller coaster with ups and downs and some hefty fire included.
FINISH: A lingering, charred, slightly sour finish.
